Chanel Cruise 2013 Cements The Trend: Brothel Creepers Are Cool!

Rihanna and Fearne creep around London in their Brothel Creepers!

Those pesky brothel creepers, we hear you say, just WON’T GO AWAY, will they? It’s true, these most rebellious shoes has seen more incarnations in the past year than during their Teddy Boy hey day in the late ‘50s – or second time round as the beloved two-fingers-up footwear choice of 1970s punk rockers. The creeper comeback started with the Prada S/S’11 catwalk stacked brogues and the simultaneous resurgence of original creeper creator Underground. So Miuccia sent her ugly-chic colourful flat-forms down the runway – fashion insiders clamoured to get them and they promptly sold out across the globe  - and at the same time cool kids across the world discovered that a pair of £83 Underground creepers (espesh of the double or triple sole variety) would give any outfit much more angsty attitude. In fact, Underground have become so very popular that not only have they collaborated with catwalk labels like Thierry Mugler, bStore, Ashish and Sibling, but a flagship store will be opening on London’s Berwick Street this coming June. Maybe they’ll even reach the dizzy heights of claiming Kristen Stewart’s next red carpet flat shoe moment…

Chanel’s Cruise 2013 creepers look oh-so-cute with a frou frou frock!

A year on and these rogue shoes have just received a MAJOR fashion stamp of approval courtesy of Karl Lagerfeld and his Chanel Cruise 2013 collection, where the majority of model’s outfits were completed with thick-soled creepers in metallics or soft pastels.  They were the perfect off-kilter antidote to the unadulterated girlishness of the fashion house’s frothy frocks and candy-coloured hair.

Creepers hit the streets: L-R: Lua P, Olivia Harrison, Kendall C, Alice Mary

T’was not long along that we tried out the tricky creeper trend for ourselves in the office (see, told you they’d go global) and since then we’ve stopped plenty of girls in the street for Style Hunter and spotted a selection of celebs making their mark in this shoe department, too. Rihanna, Jessie J, Florence Welch and Fearne Cotton have all proven that the creeper isn’t so cray cray after all.  Have you tried them? Are you in shoe love or still not convinced?

The big news with nails this season: nude is in. Minimalist colors made the biggest statement of all. Perfection is key with these shades, though—no chips, scuffs or slacking on the upkeep—and a rounded shape helps elongate your hands.

Fashion 2012: pastel colors

So what’s new in fashion this year? Two words: pastel colors. You must have at least one full pastel color outfit, including everything: from shoes to coat. You will find out that pastel colors looks the best with pastel colors.
So, where and what to buy? How to combine pastel color clothes? Where to find inspiration? Just wait, I will try to answer all your questions.

P.S. This intro image is made by me. It is free to use because my policy is: what you put on internet is for everyone.

Why choose pastel colors?

Tired from active bright neon colors? Go pastel.

Extremely feminine and light pastel yellow, orange, pink, green and blue colors offers you different look, which reminds Great Gatsby Era. More girly, but stylish, more flirty, but subtle – pastel colors are classic and pastel color clothes will always be in fashion.
Soft pastel colors look beautiful not only for daytime, but also for evening. Elegant pastel color silk or chiffon gowns look great with bold metallic jewellery.
Pastels look beautiful in combination with pastels, so designers offers a wide choice of pastel color shoes, accesories and make up. Also you can find patel color and blocking color fashion combinations or pastel colow clothes with flower patterns. Combine different pastel colors and look fresh and airy!

Where have we seen pastel colors in high fashion?

What we need first is a pastel color inspiration!

Almost all high fashion designers and fashion labels for 2012 spring collections showed pastel colors. Take a look to these examples and be inspired.

Prada, Bulberry, Versace, Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, Chloe, Miu Miu.

Jewelry Trends For Spring/ Summer 2012

There is no need to tell a fashionista how important jewelry is. We are all aware of that. But it is great to always stay in trend and know the latest innovations in the industry. So, our list of the hottest jewelry tendencies is right here for you.

Jewelry Trend: Floral Fantasy.

As you know flowers are a real hit this season. They aren’t only featured as prints on clothing, shoes, kerchiefs and bags. They also influence the shape of headwear (remember those huge flower-hats from Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2012 fashion show) and come in all kinds of jewelry. Necklaces, rings, bracelets, hair pins and other jewelry pieces from Spring/ Summer 2012 collections have been inspired by flowers.

Jewelry Trend: Chandelier earrings.

Chandelier earrings are very beautiful and feminine. They can make your evening look totally luxurious in no time. One-, two- or even three-layered earrings, which are very trendy this spring, come made of both precious metals and less expensive equivalents, with amazing jewels or plastic elements in them.

Jewelry Trend: Sea-Inspired Jewelry.

Sea was a big theme of Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion season and it inspired creation of plenty of fantastic accessories, including jewelry pieces. Sea-star-rings, pearl and fish-scale earrings, necklaces made of shells, iridescent crystals and other interesting jewelry can transform your look and make it more romantic.

Jewelry Trend: Ethnic Influence.

We all have brought ethnic jewelry from different travels. Now it’s time to wear it. Make a statement with your bright and interesting necklaces, large rings, earrings with feathers, fringe and knitted elements. Add unusual ribbons and wooden details in your hair and don’t care much about matching things. This spring the motto is: the more the better. Just look at Mara Hoffman’s models, who wear loads of such jewelry and look terrific!

Jewelry Trend: Genuine stones.

Today, when people more and more turn to nature, there is nothing surprising in the fact fashion designers try to use genuine materials in their creations. For Spring/ Summer 2012 it was the stones that were used in so many impressive ways.

Jewelry Trend: Multilayer Necklaces.

Necklaces worn in many layers look chic and stylish. You can wear one multilayer necklace or a few necklaces in the same color or different colors to brighten up your look.

Jewelry Trend: Bracelets in geometric shapes.

Square, triangle, cubic, and round bracelets are very trendy this season. They might look a little tough but when perfectly coordinated with an outfit they can give the right emphasis to the look.

Dress Trends For Spring/ Summer 2012

Dresses in Spring/ Summer 2012 collections come in a such a great variety that it seems almost impossible to determine certain trends. However, we took our time and made that work to let you see what is in vogue during the fashion season.

There are few women who can do without a dress in a warm season which explains why designers have created so many wonderful dresses for Spring/ Summer 2012. They come in different lengths, styles and colors providing every woman with an opportunity to find something she likes a lot. And if we make a short classification it can be quite possible to determine the Dress Trends for Spring/ Summer 2012.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #1: Airy maxi dresses. Maxi dresses are always in vogue but during Spring/ Summer 2012 season it is airy maxis that will be top trendy. Made of chiffon, taffeta, organza and other sheer fabrics maxi dresses come in colorful prints. D&G and Emilio Pucci offer us multilayered dresses with scarf-inspired prints, Just Cavalli and Naeem Khan go for leopard and polka dots while Roccobarocco simply combines contrast colors.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #2: Mini dresses. While some ladies opt for airy maxi dresses others will definitely want to show more of their bodies and trendy mini dresses will help them a lot with this. Paco Rabanne, Balmain and other designers have made a variety of super mini dresses in different colors and designs.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #3: Midi-length dresses. Midi-length dresses are perfect for those who dislike maxi dresses but feel shy or inappropriate to wear mini dresses. Midi dresses look good on women of all ages and can be good for many occasions. In a dress from Giorgio Armani you can visit a red carpet event. Victoria Beckham’s tight-fitting midi will look perfect at a book launch or a store opening and a stylish Etro will make you feel gorgeous everywhere you go.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #4: Glittering dresses. If you want all attention centered at you just go for one of glittering dresses designers provided in plenty for Spring/ Summer 2012. Try a silver or gold dress or find a bolder option in green, red or blue. Elie Saab designed fantastic sequined gowns. Giorgio Armani made a few dresses in color of liquid metal. And Paco Rabanne worked with iridescent hues.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #5: Asymmetrical hemlines. Asymmetrical hemline is a big Spring/ Summer 2012 trend which extends not only to dresses but to various tops and coats, too. Mary Katrantzou made a number of fabulous dresses with trains. Missoni cut hemlines to one side, while majority of designers simply re-invented a mullet dress (which has been a hot Winter 2012 trend).

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #6: Floral-printed dresses. Floral print is very trendy during Spring/ Summer 2012. Delicate and small or large prints look feminine and very beautiful. Every brand from Valentino to Proenza Schouler and of course Anna Sui (who nearly every season uses the print in her collections) have used it. And some, like Iceberg, even combined different floral prints together.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #7: Lace dresses. Lace has been a trend since last spring but it doesn’t lose its popularity in Spring/ Summer 2012. Lace has become more delicate though. Erdem, Preen, Oscar de la Renta, Bebe and other designers and brands used lace in their ranges.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #8: White dresses. Like in every warm season white dresses are among favorites during Spring/ Summer 2012. They come in different fabrics and styles but always look lovely.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #9: Peplums. Just like lace peplums are not new in vogue. They have been with us for a couple of seasons and will stay for Spring/ Summer 2012. Peplums have become bigger and bolder and now come on both casual and evening dresses. Versace peplums are long and flat. Badgley Mischka, Alexander McQueen and Jason Wu made more voluminous peplums. And Rodarte peplums are very puffy.

Spring/ Summer 2012 Dress Trend #10: Frills. Spring/ Summer 2012 collections have many dresses with frills and pleats. While some look neat and classy others are huge and eye-catching.

And of course Spring/ Summer 2012 collections abound with evening dresses which are luxurious and sophisticated, perfect for a red carpet event or an important occasion.

Eco-Fashion – Now for Your Mobile Phone

Eco-fashion is big and getting bigger and now you can wrap up your mobile phone in sustainable style too. Hailed as a ‘better, smarter, greener choice’ for the style conscious consumer – e-pouch have just launched their 2012 range of fashion foward, planet-friendly cell pouches.

As the glamorous world of haute couture continues to embrace eco-friendly fashion with many of the industry’s big names creating breathtaking and exquisite designs, it’s finally time to put to rest the old image of eco-friendly clothing being badly fitting and uncomfortable to wear.

Eco-fashion made big news during this year’s Award Season as designers Tom Ford and Stella McCartney along with Chanel, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent signed up for Livia Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge to create unique, eco-friendly dresses to be worn on the red carpet

Oscar Best Actress Meryl Streep wore Lanvin’s first-ever eco-friendly gown and The Artist actress Missi Pyle wore a cruelty-free, mineral-dyed “peace”-silk gown by Valentino Delfino.

Also getting the eco-fashion treatment are, of course, a host of shoe, handbag and jewellery labels and now, with its new 2012 range of eco-friendly pouches, you can wrap up your mobile in sustainable style too with an e-pouch.

Created by UK design company Anokimobi, the e-pouch range of phone pouches and wallets not only look good in a mix of vibrant colours and striking prints but are constructed from 100% organic and recycled materials. Incorporating clever design features such as discreet pockets and easy access features to keep credit cards, coins and headphones safe too, the e-pouch range is promoted as a ‘better, smarter, greener choice’ for the consumer and doesn’t come with an expensive ‘green price tag’.

Tom Tranter, Director of Anokimobi explains: “We have been creating products that are eco-friendly for a number of years and wanted to produce stylish and planet-friendly phone cases and covers too. The e-pouch range is aimed at the tech savvy women and men who want to make a style statement but in a conscious way. We are very careful with our eco-credentials; dyes, manufacturing methods and labour force are thoroughly vetted. The e-pouches themselves are made with a combination of organic biodegradable cotton and other eco-friendly materials; from the outer fabrics and recycled filler, through to the recycled plastic strengthening elements. There is something for everyone in our range, all of it designed to minimise the impact on the planet – we call it style with soul.”

Comprising fourteen core designs, the range is suitable for cell phones, cameras and MP3 players and is the only phone pouch range to contain Biomaster® anti-bacterial silver ions to reduce everyday germs; a potential health hazard that hit the headlines last year.

About Anokimobi Ltd:
Anokimobi started its life in 2002 designing and producing mobile phone accessories with a twist; offering clients bespoke wrist straps, phone charms, lanyards and pouches. Quickly gaining a reputation for innovation, within 6 months of trading Anokimobi was working with clients such as BBC, MTV, Burger King and Virgin Trains and later went on to design products for most of the telecoms and mobile phone companies including Nokia, O2, Orange and Vodaphone.

As its reputation for design excellence grew, Anokimobi was increasingly commissioned to design and manufacture products outside of the mobile phone market and in 2007 it began actively promoting and pioneering a range of greener products for its retail and promotional clients.

In 2011 it launched the e-pouch range of pouches and skins to offer a greener alternative to the mobile phone covers, cases, pouches and skins on the market. Like designers in the fashion industry who are increasingly designing beautiful, planet-friendly clothing, the e-pouch range of pouches and cases were created to be stylish and functional while using the greenest possible production methods and materials.

2012 Oscar Parties

Hollywood’s hottest strut their stuff at this year’s star-studded Oscar parties.

Jennifer Lopez turned heads on the Oscars red carpet in a plunging, silver Zuhair Murad gown, but the diva extraordinaire looked even better at the annual Vanity Fair afterparty in yet another revealing Murad masterpiece. Luckily — at the post-ceremony soiree — J.Lo didn’t suffer a second slip. Her first frock may have showcased a bit too much skin, but her encore ensemble was utter perfection.

Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes — who debuted a new, bang-enhanced ‘do — partied the night away with Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham and her hubby, soccer star/underwear model, David.

Also photographed entering the Vanity Fair fete was former Disney darling, Miley Cyrus, who channeled Old Hollywood in a glamorous Roberto Cavalli gown, chandelier earrings, ruby-red lips, and a classic coif.

No, this isn’t a mugshot. Last year’s Oscar co-host James Franco just looked like a vagrant at the Mercedes-Benz viewing party at Soho House in West Hollywood, CA.

Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio and reality “star” Kourtney Kardashian showed off their growing baby bumps at Elton John’s yearly shindig.

Tennis aces Serena and Venus Williams (both in Christiane King) hung out with fellow sports superstar, Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.

“SNL’s” Jason Sudeikis was caught canoodling with his lady love, “Tron” hottie Olivia Wilde. That’s one lucky man!

Steve Martin and Martin Short made a Gwyneth Paltrow sandwich, not that she eats sandwiches … or eats anything solid for that matter.

Golden Globe winner Claire Danes (“Homeland”) looked like a delicious snowcone in her strawberry-hued Valentino dress.

Katy Perry — whose tired blue hairdo has got to go — sparkled in Blumarine, while Dita Von Teese shimmered in Jenny Packham.

Michael Douglas and his proud papa, Kirk, arrived in style at the VF festivities.

Kim opted for a gothic look in Alaia. Her sister, Kourtney, went Grecian in a Raoul gown, and both Kardashians nearly disappeared standing next to the super sexy Heidi Klum, who put them both to shame in her Versace mini and Louboutin pumps.

David Furnish and Elton John accessorized with their son, baby Zachary.

Miley clung to her boy toy, Liam Hemsworth, as they sashayed their way into Elton’s event.

What do you make of the strapless white Roberto Cavalli gown “Modern Family” minx Sofia Vergara wore to the Vanity Fair party? Hot or not?

Nina Dobrev (in J. Mendel) and her “Vampire Diaries” co-star/boyfriend Ian Somerhalder (in Armani) easily made for one of the evening’s most stylish couples!

Best Actor winner, Jean Dujardin (“The Artist”), looked sleepy, happy, and quite possibly buzzed next to his new trophy.

Party girls Cameron Diaz (in Victoria Beckham) and Kate Hudson (in vintage Versace) looked like they were having more fun than any other celebs in attendance at the VF fete. Perhaps the open bar had something to do with that.

Comedian Chris Rock caught up with his pal, 85-year-old Oscar winner Sidney Poitier (“Lilies of the Field”), who looked sharp in his tux.

We’re not feeling Katie’s bangs or Natalie’s dress, are you?

We’ll look past Gwen Stefani’s questionable frock (“I’m walking into spiderwebs… “), but we can’t forgive her for the catastrophic coif she sported at the Elton John party.

We’re not sure why or how, but former “High School Musical” hotties Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale somehow landed invites to Elton’s jamboree.

Is the bold color combo Rosario Dawson rocked working for you? We secretly love it.

Do you prefer the Giambattista Valli dress Emma Stone wore to the Oscars, or this one, which was designed by Chanel?

Gerard Bulter put his grubby paws on Jessica Chastain at the Vanity Fair party. She should know better than to mingle with the infamous ladies man.

Joan Collins looks great for 78, and Victoria Beckham looks grumpy for 37.

Brett Ratner was supposed to produce the 84th Academy Awards with Don Mischer, but was asked to step down after delivering disparaging remarks about gays and actress Olivia Munn. Why, then, would swimsuit model Kate Upton hang out with such a fool? Ick.

“Avatar” star Zoe Saldana channeled her inner “Dynasty” vixen in an ’80s-inspired Marios Schwab frock.

Busy Philipps was once again BFF Michelle Williams’ date for the evening. Love this dynamic duo!

“Transformers” star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley snuggled up to her man, action hero Jason Statham, at the bar.

Amy Adams looked terrified of Tim Tebow … and he looked either sunburned, embarrassed, or sauced.

Elizabeth Banks’ dress, designed by Chadwick Bell, was one of our absolute favorites. Thoughts?

Salma Hayek’s YSL dress was nothing to write home about. Her braid, however, was quite cute.

Elizabeth Olsen kept things relatively simple in an all-black ensemble from Christian Dior.

Also spotted in all-black was “Once Upon a Time” star Ginnifer Goodwin, who donned this fashion-forward getup.

Would you want to party with Miley and Kelly Osbourne?

Or, would you prefer to party with Zach Galifianakis, Rachael Harris, and Cheryl

“Modern Family’s” Julie Bowen got photobombed by Leslie Mann upon arriving at the VF party.

Bradley Cooper’s ‘stache … yay or nay?

Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller took advantage of the complimentary photo booth.

Ladies Night, featuring: Amy Adams, Jennifer Westfeldt, Claire Danes, and Paula Patton!

Natalie Portman and baby daddy Benjamin Millepied must have found a sitter for little Aleph, who was born back in June.

We didn’t think it was possible, but Shailene Woodley (“The Descendants”) looked even worse at the Vanity Fair party than she did on the Oscars red carpet.

From the neck up, Tina Fey looked better than ever thanks to a chic updo, but her Carolina Herrera gown was a bit baggy.

Do you think Tom instructs Katie to tilt her head in every picture in order for him to seem less petite?

Kate Beckinsale has never failed us … until last night in this seaweed-covered eyesore.

Gwyneth actually looked good next to Jane Fonda, whose dress was clearly inspired by the Ice Capades.

“Parks and Recreation” star Rashida Jones looked yummy in yellow. Mustard is one of this season’s hottest trends.

Cam changed into a Popsicle-hued Victoria Beckham-designed gown for the party circuit. Discuss!

Brooklyn Decker partied at Elton John’s soiree sans hubby, tennis star Andy Roddick, who was prepping for a tournament.

LOVE Patricia Clarkson. HATE her dress and shoe combo. So much.

Diane Kruger (“Inglourious Basterds”) vamped it up in a slinky red gown and high pony.

Chace Crawford could really use a new haircut. His suit, however, looked mighty fine.

Mary Steenburgen does not age! Her hubby, Ted Danson, does.

“227″ alum Regina King delivered some fierceness as she made her way into the star-studded Vanity Fair fete.

Can we all just agree that Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt are kinda the coolest couple in Hollywood? Because they are.

“Glee’s” Dianna Agron opted for a beachy, sun-kissed look for the Elton party, and it suited her well.

Agron’s co-stars, Ashley Fink and Chris Colfer, posed for this hilarious “candid” when photographers decided to invade their conversation.

Rachael Harris — who also looked lovely on the purple carpet at Saturday’s Independent Spirit Awards — delivered a second consecutive win, this time in vintage Lanvin.

Fran Drescher accessorized with her furry little friend, Pomeranian Ester.

Rachel Zoe looked alarmingly thin in a white maxi dress and faux fur wrap.

Abbie Cornish oozed elegance in a simple yet chic sheath and diamond accents.

Kate Bosworth usually looks like a hot mess on the red carpet, but we actually approve of this Prabal Gurung dress. Do you?

Rose McGowan flaunted her fab frame in a Paule Ka gown and unseen Sergio Rossi heels at Elton’s bash.

Yep, I’m showcasing the Williams sisters again. Why? Because I love them, and they had fun dressing in bold gowns, unlike so many of Hollywood’s uptight elitists.

Tiiiiiiiiiiiin roof, rusted.

What was Mena Suvari thinking?! It looks like she slathered herself in glue and rolled around in a pile of shredded Kleenex.

Minnie Driver reigned supreme in a champagne-colored gown and diamond baubles. Call us crazy, but we think she was one of the best-dressed beauties of the entire evening.

Emily Watson was all smiles upon arriving at the annual VF party in a black frock, curly ‘do, and layered necklaces.

Paz Vega outdressed Petra Nemcova at the Elton party. In fact, Vega outdressed nearly everyone who stepped foot in that fete.

Felicity Jones — who was robbed of an Oscar nom for her work in “Like Crazy” — dressed to impress in a fashionable Johanna Johnson dress and minimal makeup.

Spring 2012 Trend Report: Sheer Skirt Overlays

Chanel
Photo: Yannis Vlamos / GoRunway.com

Sheer skirts are a huge trend for spring/summer 2012. I found so many examples that I had to narrow my selections down to only the ones that had little miniskirts underneath. A good amount of the sheer skirts I saw on the runways didn’t have anything underneath but briefs (see Lanvin and Missoni), but I think they are much more wearable if worn as an overlay instead.

That being said, I’m kind of obsessed with sheer skirt overlays right now. Designers made styles for every occasion, like the chic beachwear at Proenza Schouler or red carpet gowns at Vionnet. There are also a ton of chic cocktail options (Chanel, Marc Jacobs). My preferred style? The long, black overlays at Ann Demeulemeester, but I’m sort of having a goth moment right now, so that might be why. What’s your favorite??

The Top Resort 2012 Trends

With so many newbies (Prabal Gurung, Joseph Altuzarra) joining established Cruise veterans (Michael Kors, Chanel), the number of designers presenting Resort collections this year topped out at nearly 200. That’s a pretty hefty number — one that pushes Resort from a mere rest stop between two big seasons to a definitive moment all on its own. It also means more outfits than ever for whatever holiday-fêting, jet-setting, beach-lounging, city-cruising adventure one has in mind. Here’s a look at some of the most dominant themes to emerge during the biggest Resort season yet.

Paris Fall/Winter 2011-2012

Paris Fall/Winter 2011-2012

PARIS – FashionTV takes you live to the streets of Paris for Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011/2012 and the sophisticated elegance of shows like Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Viktor & Rolf, Lanvin, Balmain, Yves St. Laurent, and more. VIPs like Nicole Richie, Daisy Lowe, and Kanye West came to the big shows like Jean-Paul Gaultier.

At the Vivienne Westwood show, models’ faces are covered in war paint and the strong women look like warriors in elaborate clothing. Things get even more fiery when we had to the Viktor & Rolf show where models faces are painted blood red and the clothes, in both black and ecru colors, looked like armor on their bodies. “We wanted to create a glamorous fashion crusade,” said Dutch designer Viktor Horsting. Things get playful at Sonia Rykiel, where models drapse down the runway in pinkish-red lips, pink furs, plaid, and prints next to what looks like a wired backyard fence. Rochas is sophisticated and quietly bold as usual. Kenzo, with Arizona Muse headlining, is a steam of a camouflage colors and kaleidoscope prints. Stella McCartney has beautiful form-fitting dresses with billowy sleeves and unique, playful textures. Gareth Pugh is edgy and dark with black leather, bold shoulders, and tough makeup. Balmain brings out big models like Carmen Kass and Freja Beha Erichsen, with bold and futuristic designs. Nina Ricci is pretty in dark, Fall colors. The collection included historical references in unique color combinations. Chloe has a conservative vibe but with color blocking. Yves St. Laurent was sophisticated, with a perverse bourgeois, one audience member describes. It has a slight sex appeal. Valentino, headlined by model Ruby Aldridge, was toned down but beautiful as always with lush fabrics. Jean-Paul Gaultier’s show included special guest, French actress Valerie Lemercier and made a statement when models donned gray wigs like grandmas but wore the designer’s stellar outfits. Gaultier described it as a little girl who wanted to be like their mother, with a 60s and 70s feel. Lanvin’s collection had sort of an outdoorsy Amish meets cowboy feel at first, but quickly picked up with Lanvin’s gorgeous minidresses and skirt suits. Thierry Mugler took our breath away when Lady Gaga smoked a cigarette on stage as other models followed in dark looks.

Appearances: Paloma Faith, Daisy Lowe, La Roux, Hildie Gifstad, Vivienne Westwood, Karlie Kloss, Viktor Horsting, Rolf Snoeren, Sarah Blomqvist, Sonia Rykiel, Ruby Aldridge, Karl Lagerfeld, Monika “Jac” Jagaciak, Kasia Wrobel, Zuzanna Bijoch, Alana Zimmer, Designer for Rochas, Arizona Muse, Melissa Tammerijn, Antonio Marras, Elettra Wiedemann, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Jourdan Dunn, Natasha Poly, Karmen Pedaru, Stella McCartney, Gareth Pugh designer), Freja Beha Erichsen, Magdalena Frackowiak, Carmen Kass, Anabela Belikova, Sasha Pivovarova, Joan Smalls, Isabeli Fontana, Peter Copping, Julia Saner, Ginta Lapina, Daphne Groeneveld, Chloe designer, Ron Wood, Hailey Clauson, Stefano Pilati, Valentino designers, Nicole Richie, Karolina Kurkova, Alber Elbaz, Ken Downing, Lady Gaga, Nicola Formichetti, Anna Dello Russo, Coco Rochas

Spring Pedicure Trends

As the temperatures begin to rise, the first thing we want to do is whip out those flip flops.  Last Friday here in Harrisburg, it was a whopping 75 degrees, and I saw many many ungroomed feet emerging from behind cute winter boots that needed a little…TLC…before going public.  Today, as if they were reading my mind, www.fashionista.com released a post with a summary of spring’s hottest trends for pedicures.  Despite the popular spring clothing trends for 2011 which boast feminine blush shades of pink and nude, it seems darker shades are going to be popular on your toesies!  Here’s a list of a few suggestions from Fashionista, and a lovely slideshow to go with!

  1. ?OPI Austin-tatious Turquoise
  2. Essie Nice Is Nice
  3. Rescue Beauty Lounge Iconoclast
  4. Sally Hansen Casting Call
  5. Chanel Pêche Nacrée
  6. Nars Desperado
  7. Deborah Lippmann Glitter In The Air (my favorite)
  8. MAC Biker Blue Black
  9. Estee Lauder Mega Fuchsia

2011 Nail Polish Trends: Summer Brights

Bright and flourescent colours to go with your cocktails

Yes, it’s a trend that just keeps coming back, but who can resist summer brights when they look oh-so-right with sun, sea, sand and that fluorescent-coloured cocktail you hope to be sipping?

Following on from their hit rate of it colours, Chanel’s offering for the season is Mimosa, a golden yellow so sunny you practically need shades. If Chanel’s previous successes are anything to go by, you’ll need to hit the counters quick before it sells out, though be warned – yellow is a notoriously tricky shade and doesn’t work with all skin-tones, however much you’d love it to!

The star of Essie’s 2011 Summer Collection looks set to Brazilliant, an outrageous blazing orange that’s so hot, it’s got all the bloggers set to steaming! If that’s not tropical enough for you, China Glaze’s Island Escape Collection boasts six shades that are beach resort-ready – including another hot orange, Papaya Punch, and a neon lime-yellow, Electric Pineapple.

Meanwhile, Zoya have released a whopping three collections to keep us all entertained during those long summer nights. Their Summertime Collection is a more traditional affair of saturated summer brights, whilst the Sunshine Collection has six shades all topped off with a shimmering gold sparkle; highlights include another tangerine hue, Tanzy, and a candy apple glowing green, Kimmy. If sparkles aren’t your thing, their Mod Matte Collection has a neon pop art vibe with a more subtle matte finish and includes Lolly (a bubblegum pink), Mitzi (a zinging lime) and Phoebe (a bright and breezy blue).

Finally, how about Nails Inc’s I Can Paint A Rainbow set? Six bright rainbow shades, all in one handy zebra-striped gift box, it’s certain to have you spoilt for choice. The only solution? Wear a different colour on every finger (and toe) nail!

Lipsticks and Lip Glosses of the New Season

In the coming season everything will change and bare lips will turn into haute-couture lips. Most prestigious fashion designers took care to create new looks for your lips, presenting sparkling glosses and opaque lipsticks.

Choosing between lipstick and lip gloss is similar to choosing between super short black dress or leather pants-pipes with boots. It really depends on the occasion and your mood. Lipstick and lip gloss have totally different goals and effects.

Every lip gloss, apart from its primary and most evident functions also has enjoyable and useful ones. The formula of Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss could be described as a Christmas gift – a real casket of jewels. There is a complex of gel-like crystal oils (for blinding shine) and micro-pearls with elixir covering (for lip volume). Haute-couture tones are tenderly pink, rose in the twilight, sparkling wine and black plum.

Golden Gloss by Yves Saint Laurent is designed for those who are fond of eastern sweets. In every tone hides sweet clear honey – golden, golden chocolate, gold-brown and color of champagne. This gloss not only gives you a shining color and volume, but it also protects sensitive skin from aggressive environment. This lip gloss will be helpful for winded and cracked lips – it also smoothens small wrinkles, moistens and immediately gives a fresh look.

Ultra Shine LipGloss by Dolce&Gabbana is more than just simple lip gloss. This beauty-accessory draws attention to your look with some kind of emotional sense; it is sexy and elegant, gives your lips volume, moist and creates attractive contour. Some people say, Scarlett Johansson applies above named lip gloss even when she goes for a jog.

Despite being so useful and helpful lip glosses also have contraindications. It is not recommended to apply lip gloss before a photo session. Patch of reflected light in the middle of your lips (for volume – as visagistes have taught us) will look at least bizarre. Second contraindication is never to use lip gloss with shadows or rouges with pearl gloss. If applying all these at the same time, you will look like all-singing and all-screaming Christmas tree, without any chic and taste for looks.

Lipstick is usually treated as something more serious, than careless lip gloss. Lipstick gives a thick satin cosmetic layer, which is last longer and moistens and protects your lips from environment.
