‘Teen Choice 2012′ Red Carpet

Taylor Swift stunned the crowed upon arrival at the 2012 Teen choice Awards in a short, white Maria Lucia Hoan dress with a cutout back that showed off her mile-long gams. The 22-year-old songstress wore her hair swept up in a chic updo and accessorized the romantic frock with Lorraine Schwartz jewels, a sparkly Edie Parker clutch, and nude peep-toe heels. There’s no denying that the country cutie looked sweet and sexy in the backless dress, but we can’t help but think it’s a drawback that she’s always wearing white to awards shows. Along with presenting, Taylor is nominated for five awards this year : Choice Voice for “The Lorax,” Choice Female Artist, Choice Single by a Female Artist for “Eyes Open,” Choice Female Country Artist, and Choice Country Song for “Sparks Fly.”

Rebecca Black, who became a huge Internet star after her “Friday” music video became a viral hit, arrived on the Teen Choice Awards pink carpet in an orange and white geometric-print blouse and a short, black leather skirt with zippered pockets. Black is just one of many starlets to try the dip-dyed pink hair trend; including Demi Lovato (the host of this year’s show), Lauren Conrad, and Nicole Richie.

The Worst Fashion Trends of All Time

Popular styles may come and go, but some fashion trends stick out in our memory as particularly awful. Whether you wore these embarrassing trends yourself or merely enjoy laughing at outdated photos, we’re presenting the worst fashion trends of all time. Let us know which ones you find the most offensive. By Joanna Douglas, Shine Staff.

Shoulder pads
These sewn-in garment enhancements swept through the 1980s like a plague infecting every blouse, dress, and blazer. Alexis Colby, the fictional character played by Joan Collins on “Dynasty,” may be their reigning queen. Shoulder pads made a brief recent comeback thanks to Lady Gaga’s bizarre costumes, but overall they are still shunned.

Harem pants
We all made fun of MC Hammer’s parachute pants back in 1990, but in recent years everyone from Gwen Stefani to Heidi Klum have sworn by their drop-crotch pants. We think they look like you’re wearing a diaper.

Fannypacks
These unflattering waist pouches have always been a “fashion don’t” commonly associated with tourists. Occasionally celebrities like Rihanna will wear designer fannypacks, which seem even more absurd.

Ed Hardy
With fans like Jon Gosselin and the cast of “Jersey Shore” Ed Hardy gear acts sort of like a radar telling you who to avoid at all costs.

Bare midriff
Crop tops have been around since the ’60s and stars like Madonna got ladies exposing their tummies in the ’80s, but pop stars like Christina Aguilera rarely wore full-length shirts in the late ’90s and early ’00s. No wonder “8 minute abs” videos were so popular.

Saggy pants
Hip-hop artists in the ’90s started sagging and guys everywhere followed suit. Government officials have tried to ban sagging by law, but during the 2008 election Barack Obama said he felt it was a waste of time. “Having said that,” Obama told MTV, “brothers should pull up their pants. You are walking by your mother, your grandmother, your underwear is showing. What’s wrong with that? Come on. Some people might…

Fancy track suits
Adidas warm ups are still considered classic, but the early 2000s was all about Juicy Couture. Some ladies preferred terry cloth, many were velour-loyalists, and others liked words written across their butts. You can thank Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Lindsay Lohan for the still-present sweatpants in public craze….

Trucker Hats
These foam front/mesh back baseball hats have been around forever, but we can thank Ashton Kutcher, Justin Timberlake, and Von Dutch for making them insanely popular in the early 2000s.

Furry boots
Rapper Flo Rida may have swooned over girls in the “boots with the fur,” but we think they make ordinary humans look like a Muppet. Or in Snooki’s case, part poodle.

Leisure suits
These 1970s suits are made of polyester and often have oversized collars, flared legs, and come in a variety of nauseating colors. Funny to look at in photos, terrifying if they ever make a comeback.

Scrunchies
In the late ’80s most girls had at least a dozen scrunchies in different fabrics (at least one was velvet) to match with different outfits. American Apparel has tried to revive them, but thankfully most women are now too ashamed to wear them in public.

Popped collars
Deliberately wearing an upturned collar was a style in the ’50s that made a huge resurgence in the ’80s thanks to “The Official Preppy Handbook.” In recent years, high school and college kids took to wearing multiple layers of colorful polos with popped collars, perhaps the worst incarnation to date.

Sneakers that exercise for you
Since the Kardashians would willingly endorse toilet paper (no, really, they have!) we’re not surprised they partnered with Skechers Shape Ups, the sneakers that supposedly tone your body as you walk. It didn’t take long for experts to confirm they’re not only a hoax, but they can actually damage your ankles.

Pacifiers
During the ’90s rave days, people sucked on colorful pacifiers like infants. Apparently this was to prevent teeth grinding when on drugs like Ecstasy, but soon there were pacifier necklaces rings and earrings too.

Clear bra straps
We know they’re clear, but we still see them and they look silly. Courtney Stodden wears them, so that’s reason enough to stop. Please go strapless or wear a garment that covers your bra straps so this trend can finally die.

Visible thongs
Combine the popularity of lowrise denim and thongs (thanks, SisQo) and stretchy colorful panties were poking out of jeans everywhere. Bum cleavage is typically not appreciated in public, so we were thrilled when high-rise jeans made a comeback.

Baby barrettes
These old school plastic Goody barrettes are adorable for kids under five, but in the ’90s Courtney Love and fellow riot grrrls inspired teens to adopt the juvenile accessory.

Gladiator sandals
Subtle straps are fine, but a few years ago Gladiator sandals were on steroids. Check out this Chanel pair on Mary-Kate Olsen. They would make for some tragic tan lines and blisters.

Baby backpacks
In “Clueless,” Alicia Silverstone’s character asks, “Do you prefer fashion victim or ensembly challenged?” We might ask her the same thing for rocking a teeny tiny furry backpack that holds nothing more than a wallet, cell phone, and lipstick.

Yummy Mummies of 2012

Supermodels, sport stars and famous celebs – we present the hottest and most beautiful supermoms of this year.

These ladies have inspired, bedazzles and made our jaws drop in awe of their achievements – not only in their field of ‘expertise’, but also as a mother. In conjunction with Mother’s Day, we’ve rounded up our top selections of supermoms in sports, fashion and Hollywood who’ve proved to us once again, you can really have it all!

Jennie Finch
Sure, softball is a poor man’s baseball, but it has the hottest female athlete according to a poll done by ESPN in Jennie Finch. One of the most popular (and hottest, of course) female athletes in the world, she broke many hearts when she married Major League Baseball pitcher Casey Daigle in 2005, and the pair welcomed their son Ace in 2006. Jennie and hubby have since had another baby together.

Malia Jones
Well, if you are wondering, yes, pro surfer Malia Jones is also a model. She has appeared in more than a dozen covers and has been named one of the ’50 Most Beautiful People’ by People magazine, and one of America’s ’10 Sexiest Athletes’ by Esquire. In 2009, she and her now-separated pro surfer husband welcomed a baby boy named Spike.

Carrie Small
The 5′ 10′ Carrie Small has been introduced to us as the ‘Hottest Mom of the Lingerie Football League’, and really, who are we to argue? The 32-year-old hottie, who plays for the Tampa Bay Breeze, has a 10-year-old son, but what we really like about Carrie is that she plays football – in her lingerie! You can’t get any better than that.

Gisele Bundchen
We knew that whenever one of the hottest women in the world got pregnant, she would automatically be guaranteed a place on this list. Gisele is clearly that woman, and one could almost hear the collective gasp of shock and admiration around the world when Gisele regained her famous bod just months after giving birth to Benjamin Reid Brady.

Kate Moss
Motherhood hasn’t slowed Kate Moss down one bit. The mother of Lila Grace Moss has seen her profile rise once more in a year that has seen her get hitched in a much hyped wedding to rocker Jamie Hince, and walk the runway for brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

Miranda Kerr
Just like Gisele, Miranda became the object of many a woman’s envy when she flaunted her curvier, sexier figure on the most public stage of all – the Victoria’s Secret runway – almost immediately after giving birth to son Flynn with hubby Orlanda Bloom. Judging by the way she strutted down that runway, Miranda was definitely aware of how banging she looked.

Gwen Stefani
The rockstar mum keeps it real when it comes to keeping her body yummy, “Maintaining my post-baby body is a daily struggle. I’d like to have no rules and eat what I want, but I’ve learned over the years that I’m so disappointed when I can’t wear the clothes I want to wear.”

Jessica Alba
How did the actress get back her incredible body after baby no. 2? By working out even while pregnant and doing 45 minutes of cardio every day. Of course, it also helps to be a Hollywood star with calorie-controlled meals delivered on a daily basis.

Kate Beckinsale
Could the secret to Kate Beckinsale’s beauty be tea? The actress reportedly starts each day with 4 cups of green tea and has a realistic view on maintaining her figure. She says, “I’m not aiming to be Gisele. And I’d hate to be one of those people who won’t allow themselves a slice of birthday cake.”

Jennifer Lopez
Maybe having a boyfriend 18 years her junior helps J. Lo retain that youthful glow. That aside, the diva admits that she works hard to maintain her body with diet and exercise.

2012 Oscar Parties

Hollywood’s hottest strut their stuff at this year’s star-studded Oscar parties.

Jennifer Lopez turned heads on the Oscars red carpet in a plunging, silver Zuhair Murad gown, but the diva extraordinaire looked even better at the annual Vanity Fair afterparty in yet another revealing Murad masterpiece. Luckily — at the post-ceremony soiree — J.Lo didn’t suffer a second slip. Her first frock may have showcased a bit too much skin, but her encore ensemble was utter perfection.

Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes — who debuted a new, bang-enhanced ‘do — partied the night away with Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham and her hubby, soccer star/underwear model, David.

Also photographed entering the Vanity Fair fete was former Disney darling, Miley Cyrus, who channeled Old Hollywood in a glamorous Roberto Cavalli gown, chandelier earrings, ruby-red lips, and a classic coif.

No, this isn’t a mugshot. Last year’s Oscar co-host James Franco just looked like a vagrant at the Mercedes-Benz viewing party at Soho House in West Hollywood, CA.

Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio and reality “star” Kourtney Kardashian showed off their growing baby bumps at Elton John’s yearly shindig.

Tennis aces Serena and Venus Williams (both in Christiane King) hung out with fellow sports superstar, Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.

“SNL’s” Jason Sudeikis was caught canoodling with his lady love, “Tron” hottie Olivia Wilde. That’s one lucky man!

Steve Martin and Martin Short made a Gwyneth Paltrow sandwich, not that she eats sandwiches … or eats anything solid for that matter.

Golden Globe winner Claire Danes (“Homeland”) looked like a delicious snowcone in her strawberry-hued Valentino dress.

Katy Perry — whose tired blue hairdo has got to go — sparkled in Blumarine, while Dita Von Teese shimmered in Jenny Packham.

Michael Douglas and his proud papa, Kirk, arrived in style at the VF festivities.

Kim opted for a gothic look in Alaia. Her sister, Kourtney, went Grecian in a Raoul gown, and both Kardashians nearly disappeared standing next to the super sexy Heidi Klum, who put them both to shame in her Versace mini and Louboutin pumps.

David Furnish and Elton John accessorized with their son, baby Zachary.

Miley clung to her boy toy, Liam Hemsworth, as they sashayed their way into Elton’s event.

What do you make of the strapless white Roberto Cavalli gown “Modern Family” minx Sofia Vergara wore to the Vanity Fair party? Hot or not?

Nina Dobrev (in J. Mendel) and her “Vampire Diaries” co-star/boyfriend Ian Somerhalder (in Armani) easily made for one of the evening’s most stylish couples!

Best Actor winner, Jean Dujardin (“The Artist”), looked sleepy, happy, and quite possibly buzzed next to his new trophy.

Party girls Cameron Diaz (in Victoria Beckham) and Kate Hudson (in vintage Versace) looked like they were having more fun than any other celebs in attendance at the VF fete. Perhaps the open bar had something to do with that.

Comedian Chris Rock caught up with his pal, 85-year-old Oscar winner Sidney Poitier (“Lilies of the Field”), who looked sharp in his tux.

We’re not feeling Katie’s bangs or Natalie’s dress, are you?

We’ll look past Gwen Stefani’s questionable frock (“I’m walking into spiderwebs… “), but we can’t forgive her for the catastrophic coif she sported at the Elton John party.

We’re not sure why or how, but former “High School Musical” hotties Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale somehow landed invites to Elton’s jamboree.

Is the bold color combo Rosario Dawson rocked working for you? We secretly love it.

Do you prefer the Giambattista Valli dress Emma Stone wore to the Oscars, or this one, which was designed by Chanel?

Gerard Bulter put his grubby paws on Jessica Chastain at the Vanity Fair party. She should know better than to mingle with the infamous ladies man.

Joan Collins looks great for 78, and Victoria Beckham looks grumpy for 37.

Brett Ratner was supposed to produce the 84th Academy Awards with Don Mischer, but was asked to step down after delivering disparaging remarks about gays and actress Olivia Munn. Why, then, would swimsuit model Kate Upton hang out with such a fool? Ick.

“Avatar” star Zoe Saldana channeled her inner “Dynasty” vixen in an ’80s-inspired Marios Schwab frock.

Busy Philipps was once again BFF Michelle Williams’ date for the evening. Love this dynamic duo!

“Transformers” star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley snuggled up to her man, action hero Jason Statham, at the bar.

Amy Adams looked terrified of Tim Tebow … and he looked either sunburned, embarrassed, or sauced.

Elizabeth Banks’ dress, designed by Chadwick Bell, was one of our absolute favorites. Thoughts?

Salma Hayek’s YSL dress was nothing to write home about. Her braid, however, was quite cute.

Elizabeth Olsen kept things relatively simple in an all-black ensemble from Christian Dior.

Also spotted in all-black was “Once Upon a Time” star Ginnifer Goodwin, who donned this fashion-forward getup.

Would you want to party with Miley and Kelly Osbourne?

Or, would you prefer to party with Zach Galifianakis, Rachael Harris, and Cheryl

“Modern Family’s” Julie Bowen got photobombed by Leslie Mann upon arriving at the VF party.

Bradley Cooper’s ‘stache … yay or nay?

Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller took advantage of the complimentary photo booth.

Ladies Night, featuring: Amy Adams, Jennifer Westfeldt, Claire Danes, and Paula Patton!

Natalie Portman and baby daddy Benjamin Millepied must have found a sitter for little Aleph, who was born back in June.

We didn’t think it was possible, but Shailene Woodley (“The Descendants”) looked even worse at the Vanity Fair party than she did on the Oscars red carpet.

From the neck up, Tina Fey looked better than ever thanks to a chic updo, but her Carolina Herrera gown was a bit baggy.

Do you think Tom instructs Katie to tilt her head in every picture in order for him to seem less petite?

Kate Beckinsale has never failed us … until last night in this seaweed-covered eyesore.

Gwyneth actually looked good next to Jane Fonda, whose dress was clearly inspired by the Ice Capades.

“Parks and Recreation” star Rashida Jones looked yummy in yellow. Mustard is one of this season’s hottest trends.

Cam changed into a Popsicle-hued Victoria Beckham-designed gown for the party circuit. Discuss!

Brooklyn Decker partied at Elton John’s soiree sans hubby, tennis star Andy Roddick, who was prepping for a tournament.

LOVE Patricia Clarkson. HATE her dress and shoe combo. So much.

Diane Kruger (“Inglourious Basterds”) vamped it up in a slinky red gown and high pony.

Chace Crawford could really use a new haircut. His suit, however, looked mighty fine.

Mary Steenburgen does not age! Her hubby, Ted Danson, does.

“227″ alum Regina King delivered some fierceness as she made her way into the star-studded Vanity Fair fete.

Can we all just agree that Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt are kinda the coolest couple in Hollywood? Because they are.

“Glee’s” Dianna Agron opted for a beachy, sun-kissed look for the Elton party, and it suited her well.

Agron’s co-stars, Ashley Fink and Chris Colfer, posed for this hilarious “candid” when photographers decided to invade their conversation.

Rachael Harris — who also looked lovely on the purple carpet at Saturday’s Independent Spirit Awards — delivered a second consecutive win, this time in vintage Lanvin.

Fran Drescher accessorized with her furry little friend, Pomeranian Ester.

Rachel Zoe looked alarmingly thin in a white maxi dress and faux fur wrap.

Abbie Cornish oozed elegance in a simple yet chic sheath and diamond accents.

Kate Bosworth usually looks like a hot mess on the red carpet, but we actually approve of this Prabal Gurung dress. Do you?

Rose McGowan flaunted her fab frame in a Paule Ka gown and unseen Sergio Rossi heels at Elton’s bash.

Yep, I’m showcasing the Williams sisters again. Why? Because I love them, and they had fun dressing in bold gowns, unlike so many of Hollywood’s uptight elitists.

Tiiiiiiiiiiiin roof, rusted.

What was Mena Suvari thinking?! It looks like she slathered herself in glue and rolled around in a pile of shredded Kleenex.

Minnie Driver reigned supreme in a champagne-colored gown and diamond baubles. Call us crazy, but we think she was one of the best-dressed beauties of the entire evening.

Emily Watson was all smiles upon arriving at the annual VF party in a black frock, curly ‘do, and layered necklaces.

Paz Vega outdressed Petra Nemcova at the Elton party. In fact, Vega outdressed nearly everyone who stepped foot in that fete.

Felicity Jones — who was robbed of an Oscar nom for her work in “Like Crazy” — dressed to impress in a fashionable Johanna Johnson dress and minimal makeup.

Top Ten Celebs with the Best Hair in Hollywood

Having the hottest body in Hollywood or the savviest sense of style on the red carpet means nothing if a star’s hair isn’t up to scratch! There’s a reason why classic icons are remembered for hairstyles, such as Marilyn Monroe’s platinum blonde waves or Audrey Hepburn’s charming pixie cut. So Bettyconfidential.com asked Philip Carreon, consulting hairstylist for Garnier on Project Runway and owner of Estilo salon in Los Angeles, for his picks for the best celebrity hairstyles of our generation.

1. Rihanna

“I love Rihanna because she’s a risk-taker and a style-setter. Just having short hair alone sets her apart from everyone else. She has a beautiful little face, so her dramatic hairstyles combine something that is really pretty and with something really strong. She can carry off even incredibly short hair and make it look feminine.”

2. Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani does her own thing and marches to her own beat. The great thing about Gwen is she’s very architectural with her style; she loves to experiment with different eras and it’s always meticulously done – if she has braided buns they are always situated in just the right spot. My close friend Danilo has styled Gwen’s hair for years, but she also does her own hair and makeup very well because she knows her face shape. No matter how extreme a style is, she always gets it right!”

3. Catherine Zeta Jones

“For a real classic beauty, it has to be Catherine Zeta Jones – when it comes to a beautiful head of hair, she definitely has it! She’s never gone lighter and always stayed as the smoldering smoky brunette that we all fell in love with in Zorro. Dark hair is not easy; it’s something only certain women can wear and look good with it but Catherine pulls it off flawlessly.”

4. Maria Bello

Maria Bello is the quintessential indie film actress because she’s totally fearless when it comes to her style. I’ve worked on her hair for years; she’s cut it short, she’s been blonde, gone dark – she’ll do whatever she needs to do for the role and loves the change and the experimentation. Maria just dives in! She knows what works for her, she likes texture, movement and to be on the wilder side. She’s really beautiful but most of the time she plays a very natural type of role, which she can pull off thanks to her raw beauty.”

5. Scarlett Johansson

“Scarlett is the epitome of glamour. She’s our modern day Marilyn Monroe. While she changes her color for roles, she always remains a blonde at heart, making her the ultimate sex kitten. Whether on screen or in print, her hair is one of the many assets that she uses to pull you in.”

6. Demi Moore

Demi Moore has one of the most beautiful heads of hair that I have ever worked on. I styled her for years, I did her for Charlie’s Angels and we got to design the look for her character, which was really fun! All she has to do is part her hair in the middle to be gorgeous. Demi has always stayed close to her natural color and never veered from being a dark haired, green-eyed beauty. She experiment more when she was younger and now knows what is beautiful on her. She’s a rule breaker having such long hair at 46 – she’s setting new standards for older women.”

7. Heidi Klum

“Even though I work on Project Runway, I’ve not styled Heidi Klum yet but she has fabulous hair! She comes out on the show every day with a different look because it’s about fashion and trendsetting. She has a great head of hair on its own but she’s also not afraid to experiment, she’ll curl it and tuck it under into a faux bob, she’ll slick it back, she’ll braid it – whatever she chooses, she’ll wear it well.

8. Eva Mendes

“My partner at Estilo Salon, Robert Ramos, does her color, which always moves through wonderful browns tones from reddish to golden, rich to light. Eva is in real control of her look, she has a definite feeling of what her style is and whatever she wants to represent with her hair. She knows what looks good on her and what exudes sexuality, which is what she’s all about.”

9. Helen Mirren

“For her age, Helen Mirren is the ultimate pace-setter. She breaks all the rules on how she dresses and what she is. Whether she is more conservative or more daring, her hairstyle always works for her. She is sexy on a different level, whether she has a soft wavy look and one that is dead straight. She’ll use her hair to exude what it is that she’s about – intelligence, sensuality and experience all come out in her hair style.”

10. Milla Jovovich

“Finally, Milla Jovovich has amazing hair. I’ve worked with her a lot of the years and she really knows what looks good on her because as a model she’s had everyone in the world work on her hair. She can go from short to now really, really long and she wears it all really well. She can even pull off being buzzed in the back in the Resident Evil movies. Milla has a very quirky eye — I’ve learnt a lot from her. Sometimes she wants some strange shapes in her hair that I am speculative about, and then she does it and it looks really good! She’s almost old-world girly and mixes it into her designs but it always comes out looking very modern.”

Spring/Summer 2011 Trends to Watch

Let’s all forget about never-ending winter and start thinking about how to fill our summer wardrobe! Designers have doled out a good dose of colour for the warm days ahead – see for yourselves what you’ll be able to wear starting as soon as next month (Mother Nature permitting!).

Boho/’70s

Whether you have a hippie side reminiscent of Anna Sui and Cavalli or more of a bohemian-bourgeois vibe à la Marc Jacobs and D&G, the key is to go retro. The ’70s are back and embodied by a new breed of gypset: a mix of “gypsy” and “jet set,” darling! Inject a touch of craft into your look with crochet, fringes and patchwork.

Romantic/boudoir

Romance was on the runway at both Dolce&Gabbana and Charlotte Ronson in a combination of English embroidery, lace, floral prints and pastels. Don a bustier top, a slip and lots of peach tones and you’ll be all set to skip through the meadows! It’s the perfect trend for the heat waves to come.

Minimalist

The minimalist trend comes back year after year, and this time it takes a page from the ’90s and Calvin Klein. Think bare-bones design, shapeless cuts and unadorned styling. Take a peek at Céline and Stella McCartney for inspiration.

Tribal

For her L.A.M.B. collection, Gwen Stefani went nuts (in a good way) for tribal prints in both her modern, structured pieces and her asymmetrical and tiered dresses. Exotic bright colours and loud prints also graced djellabas at Etro and the body-con styles of Versace. There’s nothing like a little wildness to heat things up!

Sporty

The sporty look is holding strong again on runways this season, though it isn’t always successful in its transition to retail stores. The trend has either translated into techno-materials, in homage to the wetsuit at Marni, or to more straight-up gear that recalls the tennis garb at Tommy.

Urban safari

Travellers will be thrilled to know they haven’t been forgotten for spring! Eminently wearable outfits are paired with utilitarian bags, hats and flat sandals to make for an easy-breezy season for those who combine style with activity. Check out Hermès and Ralph Lauren for inspiration.

Tomboy

Balenciaga and Dsquared2 are turning us into boys this summer. Cue bermudas and men’s shirts – with rolled-up sleeves, of course! Word to the wise: On the Paul Smith runway a feminine touch was added with a pretty pointy-toed shoe.

Whiter than white

Everyone went with white this season (Rag & Bone, Hermès, Chloé), either in part or as a total look. When you think that even the prince of darkness (all-things-black Alexander Wang) focused on white and pastels this season, it’s clear this is a monster trend!

Flashy and fluorescent

While white was all the rage on the runways in September, its counterpart (colour) made quite a coup too. Miu Miu, Sonia Rykiel and Burberry (among others) all worked with fabrics in completely Kung Pow hues. Even those among us who are hooked on neutrals have to admit it’s a trend that’s plain eye candy!

Eastern promises

Vuitton set its sails for Asia this spring, which is a trend we haven’t seen in a while. Think nouveau kimonos, mandarin-collared shirts and fans that serve as accessories. Paul Smith played the part by using floral-printed satins, while Dries Van Noten made a collection of very pretty robe dresses.

Satin

Satin is the new velvet! Burberry, Miu Miu, Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Lanvin are only a few that are having their way with the shiny fabric. Far from restricted to evening dresses, it’s now perfect worn in a combination of pants, tunics or pretty summer dresses.

6 Hot Celebrity Hair and Makeup Moments – And How to get the Looks

Sultry, Smoky Eyes

Angelina Jolie’s sexy look is all about smoky eyes in rich shades of brown. Use a palette of different hues, like Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad, focusing the darkest color around your lashline and blending outward.

Free-Spirited Strands

Red-head Bryce Dallas Howard gives off a casual, hippie-ish vibe with her tresses pulled back into a braided updo. To get the look, create two loose French braids on either side of your face, weave them together into a bun-like style and pin them in place.

The Full-On Glamazon

Gwen Stefani isn’t known for holding back. Here, she really went for it with big curls, inky eyes and bold lips. Create a toned-down version of her eye-lip combo with black liquid liner and a lip color like Makeup Forever Lab Shine Lip Gloss in Simmering Magenta.

The Playful Pony

Penelope Cruz proves that an amped-up ponytail works with everything. Don’t have enough oomph? Fake it with extensions like these from Ken Paves.

Fresh-Faced Pretty

Rachel McAdams was the star of the Cannes Film Festival, and this look was one of our favorites. Start with natural makeup and then dab on a bright pink lip. Hint: The shade she’s wearing is Stila Convertible Color in fuchsia.

The Sweet Blossom

Next time you want to make a simple hairstyle a little more fun, try a flower like Vanessa Hudgens. Either grab a real bud and pin it in place, or pick up a faux flower clip—Goody makes a ton of different kinds you can get at the drugstore.

Celebrities in Designer Jeans

Katie Holmes in Paige Premium

Katie Holmes was spotted having some lunch at Urth Cafe in Beverly Hills, California. She wore a pair of Paige Premium High Rise Bell Canyon in Breckinridge for the lunch. I absolutely think this is one of Katie’s best outfits. Everything looks so flattering on her. The jeans fit her perfectly. I even love that her favorite Marant boots peek out at bit at the bottom.

Have any of you readers seen the trailer to Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark? I wonder why many production companies didn’t want to back it up. I thought the movie looked great. Then again they probably have seen the whole movie and not just the trailer. Going by the trailer I think many would want to see it. You can click here to purchase Paige Premium jeans at Singer22.

Gisele Bundchen in Marc Allison

Gisele Bundchen made a stop at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California while out and about running some errands. She looks so casual but so put together, Gisele’s style is always one to look out for.

She was wearing a pair of Marc Allison Shirl classic bell jeans with sandals and a loose tee. It always amazes me how some of these supermodels can wear flared jeans with flats. I actually reviewed these jeans back in the Autumn here and I know they have close to a 35? inseam. I had my highest heels on and they were still hitting the floor! Gisele’s legs must be so long! Buy these jeans at Marc Allison for $180.

Ellen Pompeo in Henry & Belle

Ellen Pompeo and daughter Stella were seen running errands out and about in LA. This past week, the two also met up with Nicole Richie and her daughter, Harlow, for a play date at a local park.

Ellen wore a pair of Henry & Belle Ideal Ankle skinny jeans in White and a chambray shirt. She was also seen wearing her Tom’s again. Toms recently announced that the brand is going to start selling eyeglasses as well, with the same concept of donating one pair for one purchased.

Gwen Stefani in Patchwork Jeans

Gwen Stefani was seen looking around in a toy store and having fun at the park with Kingston in Primrose Hill in London, England last month. It’s taken me a while to post these photos because I have been trying to figure out what the jeans are.

Gwen was wearing a really pretty pair of skinny patchwork jeans for the day but I can’t seem to find the brand. Do any of you readers know what the brand might be? They are so pretty and I love the way they look on her. The patches are not just denim either, they are printed fabric which makes them unique.

Bar Refaeli Covers German GQ in Denim

Bar Refaeli looked absolutely stunning on the cover of GQ Germany. She posed on what looks like a motor bike wheel while holding a helmet. I think it’s a really creative and sexy shoot!

Bar wore a pair of vintage denim shorts for the shoot with heels and a biker jacket. What do you think of the photos? Do you think she looks amazing too? She’s definitely got perfect legs, especially to pull off teeny tiny denim shorts.

Gwen Stefani in a AG Adriano Goldschmied Denim Jacket

Gwen Stefani was snapped by the paps as she was pushing her stroller/pram through a parking lot on her way to The Huntington Library, a museum and the botanical gardens in San Marino, California.

Gwen seems to be a really busy mum which I love about her. She chose to wear her AG Adriano Goldschmied denim jacket again but this time she wore it over a printed maxi dress. I’ve always been fond of the denim jacket over dresses look, it’s casual but it’s tidy. Buy AG Jeans online at Singer22.com.

Christie Brinkley in AG Adriano Goldschmied

Supermodel Christie Brinkley was spotted arriving at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City for her performance as Roxie Hart in Chicago. She wore a pair of the AG Farrah Skinny Crop in Red. I never would have thought that AG would join the color trend, but they have and they have done it amazing. I hope to see more celebrities wearing these out, especially Zoe Saldana. She is the prefect spokesperson for them.

I think this outfit is a bit funky with the colors an shoes going on. I find the blue of the shirt to be an awkward shade to be paired with the jeans. I also do think that the jeans are a bit short for sneakers. Maybe with a different pair of shoes this outfit would look a lot better, in my opinion. Thinking about it Christie is 57! Anyone who looks this good at that age can wear anything if they wanted to.

Who Wore It Best: J Brand Bette Jeans

J Brand’s Bette jean has quickly become a celebrity favorite, with the flattering wide leg and higher rise. Cheryl Cole paired hers with a simple blazer and tee, while Katie Holmes has worn hers in a similar fashion. AnnaLynne McCord showed off the high waist by tucking a blouse in and belting them, Alessandra Ambrosio opted for a more casual look and paired hers with a cropped tee and flip flops, January Jones matched hers with a red plaid tee and shoes, and Emmanuelle Chriqui wore hers on the red carpet with a loose sheer blouse.

Courteney Cox in Paige Premium

Courteney Cox was spotted out with her ex-husband, David Arquette, at The Roosevelt Hotel after his performance of ‘David Arquette Presents Beacher’s Madhouse’ in Los Angeles, California.

She chose to wear her Paige Premium Verdugo jeggings in Coal for the night out. I’m not a huge fan of the ruffled shirt but I love the jeans. I know Courteney is a huge fan of Paige jeans. I hope we see her out in some other styles from the brand soon!

Victoria Justice in J Brand

Victoria Justice posed for photos on the orange carpet at the premiere of Nickelodeon’s iParty with Victorious at The Lot in West Hollywood, California. Miranda Cosgrove also joined Victoria in some photos.

Victoria was wearing a pair of the J Brand 811 mid rise skinny jeans in Bright Turquoise while she hosted the event. I absolutely adore this colour! It’s so fun and pretty! It’s not a colour that’s too bold for easy wearing either! I think Victoria is a beautiful girl too.

Ellen Pompeo in Pray For Mother Nature

Ellen Pompeo was spotted out to lunch with her family in Beverly Hills, California. Ellen switched it up with her jeans and chose to try another different brand for this day. She chose a pair of brown Pray For Mother Nature jeans. I do like the wash of these jeans. We don’t spot brown denim all to often on people.

One other thing that I like is that she paired it with some TOMS. I think what they are doing is amazing, as everyone knows. Her pants just fit the shoes perfectly. I just find that they look a bit awkward on me at times, but they are still great shoes. I love that they have come out with some new styles like the Cardones and Botas.

Jessica Alba in Mama J by J Brand

Jessica Alba was spotted catching a flight at LAX Airport earlier last month. She wore her staple Mama J by J Brand jeans again. This time she opted for the 3401 Maternity Leggings in Pitch. I can see why Jessica chooses these jeans. I haven’t tried their leggings (cannot do without a front pocket), but their regular jeans are really amazing. They are very lightweight and have a tendency to never stretch out.

Jessica part-took in the CFDA awards this year. She will be honoring Hal Rubenstein with the Founders Award. She wore a custom two-tone dress by Diane Von Furstenberg. What did you think of the look? I thought the colors looked great on her.

Mary-Kate Olsen in Custom-Made Jeans By Maxfields LA

Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted in New York after having some lunch. She sported a striped jacket with a white button-up with her custom-made jeans by Maxfields LA. She finished off her look with a bag from her new handbag line for The Row. I do like this outfit. I like all the colors and prints together, even the shoes. The prints are amazing on those. I do just wish the jacket was a bit smaller, or unbuttoned. It looks unintentionally oversized in my opinion.

I think this would be an even more amazing out without the jacket. The shirt underneath looks amazing with the jeans. I’m seriously going through a white button-up/henley phase right now. I love the look of a white button-up, even more than a white tee. They are just one of the most versatile pieces, I find. It can be worn casually rolled up on the sleeves, not buttoned all the way or clean and professional.

Kate Moss in Black Orchid

Ms. Moss was spotted out in her Black Orchid Black Jewel Jeggings in Newton again while out an about in London. Kate finally gave her black tees a rest an opted for a white one this time. I do like the wash of these jeans and the little whiskering here and there. I find them to have that dark blue wash that is very versatile.

I wonder if a regular blue pair of jeans is Kate’s way of joining the colored denim trend? Everyone knows she loathes color most of the time. I guess if you are Kate Moss, no trend really matters. I would like to see her rock some red though. If not denim maybe at least the red leather Balmains or Isabel Marant Soan pants in red.

Megan Fox in Frankie B.

Megan Fox heads to the salon with her family, including Brian Austin Green’s son Kassius. Megan is preparing to head to Abu Dhabi next week to promote the launch of LG Cinema 3D TV. I wonder what else Megan has on tap in terms of projects?

Megan has been wearing her Frankie B destroyed ankle zip skinny jeans quite a bit recently, including to the Lakers play off game a few weeks ago.

Cindy Crawford in J Brand

Cindy Crawford was spotted going to dinner at Katsuya Restaurant in Los Angeles, California. The supermodel herself wore a pair of J Brand 912 in Heritage. I love the wash of these jeans ever since Hilary Duff was spotted wearing the wash in the 811 fit. They have such a rich wash to them.

This is the first time I have seen someone other than Kate Moss carry a Kate Moss x Longchamp collection bag. I like this bag. It is unique. the color of the patches are all very bold, yet they work together.

Jennifer Garner in J Brand

It is nice to finally see Jennifer Garner out with husband Ben Affleck. The two were seen taking their daughter, Violet, to a party. Ben also appeared to have a black eye, ouch!

Jennifer also switched it up from her regular baggy jeans by wearing a pair of J Brand’s Inez chinos in Vintage Fawn. She paired them with a striped sweater and flats. I think it’s so adorable that Violet is wearing an almost identical outfit! I’m definitely a fan of these pants on Jen, I think they look great.

2011 Beauty trends…The red lipstick

2011 Beauty trends…The red lipstick

Are you afraid to use a little colour? Be a bit daring when it comes to your lips? Well have no fear, because here are some ladies in red that show us how its really done…

There is a reason that red lippy is the must have for most of us. The shine, the shape, the plumping up, if there was a miracle substance for transforming even the most boring, thin and hated of lips – the red lipstick is it, the maverick, the daddy and quite simply irreplacable.

Marilyn Monroe was one of the first to discover the secret to what a good shade of red could do. Look at any photograph of the young starlet and you see that her smile is one that so many would pay for – and with the little help of lippy, it goes a long way in turning those heads and securing male attention.

?Rock chick, Gwen Stefani has made the red lipstick her own trend and it does wonders for her complexion. Find the right shade and red can lift any dull skin tone and brighten those eyes even blondes like Gwen can rock it!

Red can evoke many different looks, of that there is no denying. It can be the favourite of a grunge princess like Stefani or make a sultry tempress like burleque star Dita Von Teese.

?There is never a time we don’t see her with a hefty application of the red stuff and now we know why…

stirring up those romantic, sexy and loving emotions, red is THE colour you want to be sporting if you’re wanting the men to be falling at your feet. Not to mention is gives Dita the complexion perfection of a pot doll.

?One of the hottest Hollywood properties at the moment also knows that red is the way forward.

?Star of the Transformer films, Megan Fox is one of the sexiest girls in the world and very few would deny that red lippy is hindering this girl’s look.

It gives her a smokey look that most girls would kill for and most guys would kill to be with. Why not have an experiment yorself and see which shade of red suits you?

We’ve tried to give you a head start to find the best reds in the shops at the market and with everything from lipsticks, to liners and glosses there is no excuse for getting those lips rosey red and lush.

This deep clarins is bound to give you a rich tone and perfect for giving your lips that long lasting colour that you need for a day at the office or a night on the town.

?Get dressed up with a nice LBD (little black dress) and find that sexy hair do and your man will not know what has hit him.

?

Lips are incomplete without some shaping and this selection of Rimmel lip liners give you the crisp edge to colour in with a gloss or stick of your choice.

?It helps to define lips and even offer the illusion that lips are fuller than they actually are. A cheaper alternative to some collagen products.

If you’re a gloss girl through and through then this is the product for you. Bobbi Brown’s infamous bright colours and stand out range is the perfect thing for finding that right shade of red.

?We recommend this, as you’re bound to get those heads turning, finds the inner goddess within you and find that much needed confidence that a season under blankets and jumpers can take away from you.
