The wrong and right way!

Fashion can be quite tricky to pull off sometimes. Find out how to make particular fashion trends such as the tutu and leopard prints work for you.

Girls, fashion brings beauty and beauty is the first thing that meets the eye. You do not want to screw that up! Take a look at our 10 rights and wrongs and learn to do it right!

Animal Prints: Sure, animal prints can bring out you inner feline but Linda Ramone is over doing it! Reese Witherspoon on the other hand, sexy!

Big Hair: Chantal Biya’s big hair was trapping pigeons while Miley’s hairdo made her shine!

Underwear As Outerwear: Between Lacey Schwimmer and Kim K, can we make you guess which one screams trashy and which screams gorgeous?

Colour Matching: Kelly Osborne was matching everything from head to toe and she looked like cotton candy! Jessica on the other hand played it cool and classy by only matching her clutch and dress.

Expose: Heidi ran through our minds as her sneaky dress gave us a peak of her sexy body but it screams NO with Tami Donaldson’s outfit..or shall we say lingerie.

Feathers: We thought Paris had glue gunned her dress and rolled around with her pillow feathers. Naomi Watts’ dress showed Paris how to do it right!

Leggings: We’ve heard a lot about leggings and Leighton Meester gladly showed us an example of what not to do with it while Ciara rocked the look.

Sheer Clothing: Would there be any difference if Melody Thornton on the left had not worn anything? Zoe Saldana’s dress on the other hand gave out a beautiful sense of architecture and style.

Train Dresses: On our left we see Eva Longoria in a beautiful white train gown and on our left we see Miley Cyrus with a tail. We hope that is not what you are wearing on your wedding day!

Tutu: No girl is too old for a tutu but Rihanna is doing it wrong. She looked like a gift bag! Olivia Wilde’s dress, beautiful!

Celebs with stylish bags

Introducing Petra and Tamara Ecclestone, LA’s newest paparazzi obsession

Are you familiar with Petra Ecclestone and her sister Tamara Ecclestone, recent transplants to Beverly Hills from London and daughters of Formula 1 Racing head (and billionaire) Bernie Ecclestone? I wasn’t until last week when I read that Petra (she’s the blonde) was launching a handbag line for fall, and it seems as though now that I’ve heard the name, I keep seeing mentions and photos of the two everywhere. Petra, 22, first made a splash last year when she and her new husband bought the former Spelling mansion, which is the largest private residence in all of Los Angeles County. Not bad for your first home with your new hubby.

Petra’s sister Tamara seems to be slightly more low-key, but it looks as though they’re both quickly becoming fixtures on the Los Angeles social and paparazzi scene. Here they are, out for a day of shopping, both toting Hermes Birkins in lime and white. I’m partial to Petra’s choice of lime green, particularly against a black dress, but white isn’t too shabby either. I can’t wait to see what kinds of handbags these two girls trot out while their fame (infamy?) is at its peak.

Surprise, surprise, Blake Lively’s carrying Chanel

Actually bothering to write paragraphs about Blake Lively carrying a Chanel 2.55 Flap Bag seems kind of silly; we all know that she’s Karl Lagerfeld‘s flavor of the month, and product placement is pretty easy to come by on Gossip Girl. But in this case, the bag is good enough to discuss.

In fact, this foil-y cobalt blue version of the 2.55 might be my favorite of all time. It’s vibrant and modern while still being one of Coco’s classic designs, and it feels much more fresh and relevant in this finish that it does in basic Chanel black. If I had to pick a Chanel bag to add to my closet right now, it would be this one. Metallic blue is just trendy enough to look really amazing right now, but the historical shape means that this bag will never, ever go out of style. More of this, please, Chanel.

Kim Kardashian carries a Jimmy Choo clutch for grocery shopping in NYC

If ever there were any doubt, these pictures should be enough to convince anyone that Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian are not cut out to be New Yorkers. What they’re apparently doing here is grocery shopping in the East Village, and anyone who’s lived in New York for any significant period of time knows that there’s a whole strategy to city shopping that they have apparently not considered.

First and foremost, even though Kim’s Jimmy Choo Candy Clutch is cute, it’s not meant for grocery shopping. If you’re going to carry your own bags from the store, you have to carry a shoulder bag at the very least, and ideally it would be a crossbody. Secondly, why are they schlepping groceries in the first place? I’ve yet to encounter a grocery store (or a store of any kind, actually) in New York that won’t deliver, and many groceries will do it for free. Not that “free” matters to the Kardashians, of course. I just can’t figure out what they’re doing with those bags.

Here we have Nicky Hilton, once again in flats

I have something of a confession to make: Over the past two months, I’ve become slightly obsessed with celebrities wearing flats. I tore a ligament in my ankle over July 4th weekend, re-aggravating an old soccer injury that I’ve re-aggravated ten times since middle school, and my days of heel-wearing are over for good. I’m a shoe widow at 25, and I’m feeling awfully stumpy and sorry for myself.

But like I said, I’m focusing on celebrities who often wear flats, like Nicky Hilton, and the more I see of her, the more I like. She’s got on a fairly nondescript pair of flip flops in these photos to match her casual turquoise dress, the color of which coordinates perfectly with the undertones in her grey Alexander Wang Rocco Bag. This is a very well-played, understated, ubercasual outfit, and I find myself wondering exactly where she got such a comfy-looking dress. Keep on rocking your flats, Nicky.

Leighton Meester carries Valentino on the set of “Gossip Girl”

I always get so excited when we start seeing paparazzi photos from the set of Gossip Girl – it means that filming is underway and new episodes of the show are just around the corner! I won’t be recapping this season of the show on PurseBlog, but I will still be following along at home, even though the show frustrates me sometimes.

But how can I stay away from a program that gives us outfits as great as this high-waisted trouser ensemble on Leighton Meester? And besides, how utterly gorgeous does Leighton look in these photos? Way too gorgeous to be fair, I say. Her neutral tone-on-tone Valentino Aphrodite Small Bow Bag is not only the perfect compliment to her outfit, but it also fits perfectly with her character. Blair Waldorf is prim yet glamorous, just like a structured, bow-adorned Valentino bag in supple olive lambskin.

Even the younger Kardashians have caught the bag bug

It was only a matter of time, of course. When your three older sisters, who get all the attention they could ask for and rake in a ton of cash, are buying Hermes Birkins like they’re cheap sunglasses at a cart in the mall, the urge to do the exact same thing must be incredibly strong as a teenager.

And now, they’re doing exactly that. Here we have Kylie Jenner, half-sister to the Kardashian girls, out and about during preparations for her sister Kim’s wedding last week. Kylie’s carrying a Goyard St. Louis Tote, and it looks as though Goyard may be the next big obsession for the entire family. I also have some photos of Kim carrying Goyard after her wedding; I’ll be posting those next week. You’re waiting with baited breath, I’m sure. And even if you’re not, pretend! For my sake.

Jessica Simspon wears Yves Saint Laurent on both her arms and her feet

While it may be true that we no longer see much of Jessica Simpson in movies or on album charts, an astounding number of women do see her in one very important place: In their closets. Jessica’s footwear and accessories businesses stand to rake in close to a billion dollars this year, and she’s taking a handsome cut of it for herself. Interestingly, she appears to be spending a good bit of it on bags and shoes from other companies. Not that I blame her! Not at all.

Her pick for this particular night out with her fiance was Yves Saint Laurent from top to bottom. The Yves Saint Laurent Cabas Chyc Tote has been a favorite of starlets for months now, so it’s not surprise that Jessica would be sporting it. She’s also rocking a pair of my favorite shoes from Spring 2011 – a pair of sky-high Yves Saint Laurent Python Wedges. I’m not digging the rest of the outfit, but the YSL pieces are spot-on.

Lots of wedding congrats to Kim Kardashian and all of her Birkins

If you spent all of yesterday watching the fall of Libya on Al Jazeera (please, please, PLEASE tell me that some of you were), then you might have missed the Hollywood news of the month: Kim Kardashian got married, y’all. She and basketball player Kris Humphries were wed in a ceremony that contained more K-names than perhaps any other in the history of humanity.

Personally, I hope that Kim’s ever-expanding collection of Hermes Birkins was also given some kind of role in the proceedings. After all, they seem to have such a giant spot in Kim’s life that you’d think they would get their due. Perhaps Kim had them all filled with flowers and used as centerpieces? Maybe her bridesmaids held them instead of bouquets? Maybe her need for “something blue” meant that she had to run out at the last minute and buy a new one? The mind, it reels. I hope that there are many years of marriage and even more Birkins in your future, Kim.

Nicky Hilton looks chic with stripes and Celine

The Hiltons have been on my mind for the past couple of days. I’m watching Mad Men for the first time on Netflix, and I’m currently at the point in the third season where Don Draper meets Conrad Hilton. Whenever any character says his name, I can’t help thinking that the Hilton family went from a proud, incredibly revered business dynasty to…Paris. And they did it in two generations flat. In a way, that’s actually kind of impressive.

I do wish that Nicky Hilton had ended up the more famous of the Hilton sisters. Not only his her sense of style far sharper than her sister’s (which, quite honestly, is faint praise), but she seems like the smarter, savvier, more interesting of the pair. I’m certainly quite interested in the Celine Nano Luggage Tote that she’s wearing in these photos. If I could get my hands on one right now, I’d wear it everywhere. Her choice of flats and a cute striped T-shirt dress is a big clue at just how much more awesome than Paris she actually is. I would totally have a beer with Nicky Hilton, and I’m betting Conrad would too.

Momager Kris Jenner carries an elusive white Birkin

As the old saying goes, if mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy, and I would assume that the adage goes double when your mom is also your manager. It makes sense, then that Kris Jenner would show up carrying the most coveted Hermes Birkin that her clan of Hermes-obsessed women has yet to show off: stark white. And until a Kardashian ponies up for alligator or crocodile, Kris shall not be outdone. Maybe Kim will get one as a wedding gift?

I’m not exactly sure why I so rarely see a white Birkin. I vaguely remember reading a few years back that Hermes had stopped producing them for a time, but my memory is fuzzy on the specifics and Hermes is notoriously mum about what it’s producing and when it might restart the manufacturing of any particular iteration of its highly sought-after bags. Even if the elusiveness of a white Birkin is merely in my head (which is a possibility, let’s face it), seeing one always makes me happy. Even when it’s on Kris Jenner.

Kim Kardashian carries (karries?) Judith Leiber

I don’t know what the VH1 Do Something Awards are, to tell you the truth. It sounds like they award charitable or philanthropic work, and if that’s true, then…yay! VH1 definitely owes humanity something after making us all suffer through multiple seasons of Flavor of Love, after all. But mostly, it looks like a reason for camera-seeking celebs to congregate celebrate their collective confusion over the dress code.

For her part, Kim Kardashian showed up in a formal, floor-length Antonio Berardi gown that was accented with a gold metal belt and a Judith Leiber Radiant Crystal Clutch. It’s a nice look – it’s skintight, of course, but it’s long and cut high enough that none of her parts are hanging out, which is really all you can ask from a Kardashian at this point. I’m having trouble figuring out if the dress was occasion-appropriate, though. It seems as though others showed up in short dresses, and Kim may have been a tad overdressed. Of course, that’s kind of her thing, isn’t it?

Kourtney Kardashian goes back to one of her favorite Balenciagas

As many handbags as the Kardashian sisters have at their disposal, they do have some pretty noticeable patterns when it comes to accessories. More often than not, if they’re not carrying an Hermes Birkin, they’re carrying a Balenciaga bag of some sort. And that’s exactly what’s going on in these photos – last we saw Kourtney Kardashian, she was carrying an orange Birkin. Now she’s switched to one of her other favorites, a Balenciaga Classic Arena Square Tote.

The more I think about it, the more this bag looks like the perfect option for the mother of a young child. Balenciaga bags are extremely lightweight, and the dark shade of this leather would resist obvious stains well. It also has lots of big pockets for organization and fits comfortably on the shoulder. What more could you ask for?

Everyone’s Wearing… 70s

Elle Macpherson

If you want people to pay attention, throwing on a yellow jumpsuit and styling it to the 70s hilt is a good way to go about it. Elle Macpherson helped her new reality TV show, Fashion Star, to hit international headlines when she was papped during filming in this flared mustard silk all-in-one and gold Lara Bohinc necklace.

Brooklyn Decker

For the German premiere of her film Just Go With It, Brooklyn Decker managed to achieve the seemingly unachievable – stealing in limelight from co-star Jennifer Aniston. Her secret? A show-stopping, split-leg purple jumpsuit by Max Mara worn, in true 70s style, without a bra.

Angela Lindvall

At the super-starry Christie’s Green Auction in NYC, model Angela Lindvall channelled 70s glamour in this black halterneck gown with silver sequin streaks.

Olivia Palermo

Never one to let a trend pass by untried, The Hills star Olivia Palermo wore this button-down peach Mango maxi dress with a tan belt to a fashion show thrown by the high street label in March.

Katie Holmes

A classic camel coat teamed with flared jeans, suede boots and a satin shirt is the perfect, subtle take on 70s casual. If we know Katie Holmes – and we think we do, fashion-wise – we’ll bet she’s hiding an on-trend high waistline under there, too.

Dakota Fanning

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped back in time if you saw Dakota Fanning strolling around LA, like the ultimate 70s ingénue, in her straw trilby, crochet cardigan, denim flares and wooden platforms.

Florence Welch

Top-to-toe in new season Chanel, Florence Welch clearly has her finger on the 70s fashion pulse.

Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie’s penchant for boho makes her a natural 70s fit. This floral cape look, which the TV-star-turned-designer wore to the Jean Paul Gaultier show at Paris Fashion Week in March, is one of our absolute favourite of hers, ever.

Kylie Minogue

Nothing says 70s more than a tiered maxi and tottering platform heels. Kylie Minogue is our go-to girl for sweet summer day looks.

Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr’s plunge-front Balenciaga maxi dress hit the 70s nail square on the head – as do her open-toe sandals, suede clutch bag and natural make-up.

Alexa Chung

You bet that fashion rule-breaker Alexa Chung can pull off a 70s style. There are no floor-scraping hemlines to be seen here, though – instead, Ms Chung makes the trend her own in a sweet, peasant-style smock dress (by Chanel, nonetheless).

Claudia Schiffer

Claudia Schiffer is a serial 70s style stalker. Her key pieces of choice? Printed neckerchiefs, embroidered peasant skirts, high-waisted denim flares and bug-eye sunglasses.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria wouldn’t look out of place if she stumbled into Studio 54 circa 1978 in this all-black, silk-and-sequins jumpsuit.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum took on the 70s trend in a tobacco-coloured, high-necked, wide-legged, key-hole cutout jumpsuit – and, sadly, we’re not sure she won.

Leighton Meester

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester looks a 70s dream in her psychedelic Marc Jacobs dress.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus channels the indomitable fashion spirit of Stevie Nicks in her fringed, floral shawl. Poptastic!

Shenae Grimes

Fringed sleeves, a cutaway front and a floor-skimming hemline; Shenae Grimes ticks all the 70s revival boxes in her black maxi.

Claire Danes

There’s more than a touch of 70s style icon Bianca Jagger about Claire Danes in this sleek Calvin Klein tuxedo dress.

Camilla Belle

Gucci put one of the season’s strongest 70s showings on the catwalk and Camilla Belle captured the spirit of it perfectly, top-to-toe in the label’s glamorous brights.

Fergie

Diane Von Furstenberg was one of the original 70s icons – so it’s little wonder that Fergie chose to channel the designer’s style as she attended her autumn/winter 2011 fashion show in New York.

Rose McGowan

Rose McGowan was boogie-ready at the SAG awards thanks to her hot pink, 70s-inspired plunge-front gown.

Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood scored a serious style hit in this peasant-style Gucci dress and knee-high leather boots on the promo trail for her new film The Conspirator.

Isabel Lucas

How wide can you go? Isabel Lucas took the 70s to the streets when she was papped out and about in these monumental flares.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens demonstrated precisely why the 70s is the era of choice for festival fashionistas in this cute flower power-inspired look at Coachella.

Karen Elson

Halterneck? Tick. Print? Tick. All-in-one? Tick. Karen Elson got it right on all fronts at Marc Jacobs’ autumn/winter 2011 show.

Paris Hilton

With her hair braid, tie-die maxi and glitzy gold cover-up, Paris Hilton made the perfect 70s statement on the streets of LA.

VV Brown

Singer VV Brown looked 70s-tastic in this gold lame maxi dress with contrasting high neck and deep cuffs at the Prince’s Trust Awards.

Kate Moss

Never one to let a trend pass her by (though, admittedly, she’s long since been an ‘out’ 70s devotee), Kate Moss rocked this long-sleeved pink maxi dress and sheepskin gilet for lunch at luxe London eatery The Wolseley. We’re giving her a bonus point for that scarf tied onto her handbag, too.

Tess Daly

Tess Daly killed two trends with one outfit at the TRIC Awards. Her split-leg MaxMara jumpsuit ticks both the 70s and tangerine boxes.

Lindsay Lohan

Night fever! Lindsay Lohan appeared to be channelling a young John Travolta in this pair of high-waisted white flares recently.

6 Celebrity Tips for Wearing Yellow

Yellow is everywhere for summer, from the red carpet to the realm of fashion bloggers. Give this happy, high-fashion color a try with these 6 styling ideas.

[1] Blake Lively: When you’re rocking a full-on yellow shirtdress, less is more with accessories and makeup. Try black heels, dewy makeup and loose waves.
[2] Leelee Sobieski: Much like Blake, Leelee pairs her vibrant yellow dress with nothing more than black ankle-strap pumps and a chain strap bag. Red lips are a striking addition.
[3] Leighton Meester: If you subscribe to the notion that more is more, wear your yellow Gossip Girl style – matching pumps, prints and a bag that’s just as bright.
[4] Jessica Alba: The expectant mom stays stylish in a breezy yellow maxi dress. Neutral wedges and a crochet bag finish the boho look.
[5] Kourtney Kardashian: For a bold evening look, seek out a yellow jumpsuit, then pair it with nude pumps and a colorful bag.
[6] Olivia Palermo: Looking incredible as always, Olivia takes her $80 Topshop dress to a new level with layered necklaces and shiny shoes – accessories that are unexpected but totally work.

Celeb Bags

Yves Saint Laurent Chyc Cabas: Rock the Cabas

Calling all snobs! There’s an official new “It” bag in town, from Los Angeles to New York. Noticed a suspiciously similar roomy tote hanging from the forearms of noted style-setters like Sienna Miller, Leighton Meester, Kylie Minogue, and Carla Bruni and glamorous starlets such as Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and Salma Hayek?

Ah, the age-old question of what makes an “It” bag. The answer? It’s the right combination of structure and lack thereof; ease that can be appropriated to any knowing woman’s wardrobe, whether she’s ladylike or bohemian; a major statement-maker without sticking a fat logo in your face and everyone else’s.

The Chyc Cabas is an adaptable carry-all that’s a city girl’s dream: sheepskin leather in a hold-everything size, multiple pockets (two outer, an inside phone and zip), and the trademark magnetic “Y” closure that spells “Yves Saint Laurent” in a single, decorative letter. Plus, a color for every personality – the neutrals: olive-tinted sand, shiny black, grayish brown and the wilds: juicy magenta, punchy blue, and leopard. Available at Yves Saint Laurent and to be available at Saks Fifth Avenueicon, for $1,995.

Demi Moore Carries Roger Vivier “Prisme Chine” Clutch: More Color, Moore Luster

While the ever-sparkly Demi seems to age in reverse, her sense of style stays several steps ahead of the curve. By the looks of her beaming gaze and comfortable embrace with Ashton at the Urban Zen Awards in NYC on June 9th, I’m thinking love is the secret to her unyieldingly youthful appearance.

But the highlight of her simple-chic black-and-white ensemble is no enigma. Roger Vivier‘s polychromatic “Prisme Chine” ($925) clutch is an absolute piece of art. The painterly pattern is beautifully chaotic, one color being bolder than the last, and the asymmetrical golden buckle mimics the geometric shape of this prismatic bag. Leaving all else tintless (aside from her trademark Kabbalah string), her fringed white top, loose trousers, and peep-toe pumps let the shot of glorious color shine. At Roger Vivier stores.

The Row: The Golden Touch

It is no surprise the bags from The Row (named after Savile Row, a.k.a. “The Golden Mile”) are as meticulously crafted and streamlined as the ready-to-wear line. If the clothes are any indication, the Olsens are dedicated to high quality and clean lines. But I am pleasantly surprised at how well the girls are able to translate their very unique personal style to bags that work for everyone.

Ashley and Mary-Kate each brought one out for a run at the CFDA – and I went from impressed to obsessed! The proportions of these bags are amazing on petite girls, like themselves, but the shapes will work on taller snobs, too. Especially Ashley’s elongated classic lizard shoulder bag. The twins also exhibited how well these grown-up bags, designed with the eyes of wise fashion souls beyond their 24 years, can be appropriated to both sleek (as seen on Ashley in a blue dress by The Row) and opulent (Mary-Kate, wearing Chanel Pre-Fall) looks.

They have succeeded in offering us styles to fill a void in your bag wardrobe for a lifetime. I’m experiencing a mania of epic proportions over these bags! Except I’m not so crazy about the prices. Though, like The Row Ready-to-Wear, I am certain fat price tags won’t stop this bag line from flying off the shelves. Classic Shoulder Bag in Lizard, $5,450. Metal Frame Lizard Bag, $5,800.

Tod’s “Lucy” Calf Hair Clutch: Halle Takes a Walk Near the Wild Side

2011 FiFi Awards honoree Halle Berry showed off her wild side at the event in New York City last week, proving that her wild side can be rather sophisticated. While you can rely on Halle to consistently look stunning, she really nailed it – thanks in large part to her Tod’s “Lucy” clutch.

The classic Tod’s oversized buckle pochette is given a fierce makeover in slick, shiny calf hair – the heavy texture of the bag sets off her bold, cutout Halston dress. She wisely kept her makeup light and neutral, along with her single burst of oversized earrings, to avoid looking like Pebbles.

While I’m not crazy about the dress, she makes it work (few could successfully wear such a skin-skimming, ab-revealing choice), and I am in love with the clutch: soft and strong, intriguing and versatile, with skin that rings exotic for a hint of mystery.

Lucy Liu Carries Roger Vivier: In Liu of the Boring Clutch…

Make no mistake, Lucy Liu is baaaaack! And looking better than ever! I love her sensibility: never fussy, always glamorous. She proves few can work the simple shades of black and white, a belted dress, and most importantly, a Roger Vivier clutch the way she does. Making the rounds to promote her new movie “Kung Fu Panda 2″ she carried off a near-impossible feat: beguiling us from the likes of Angelina Jolie.

What could be more glam than Vivier clutches? Sure, her sleekly sophisticated yet coquettishly feminine dress and heel choices didn’t hurt – Marchesa with Jimmy Choo in LA, Antonio Berardi with Casedei in NYC, and Givenchy with Jimmy Choo at MoMA. Though it was Vivier’s clutches that finished her looks in style and really caught my eye.

The “Boite de Nuite” box clutch got double duty, showcased in two styles at the film’s premiere in LA and a MoMA dinner. No surprise: the bag is a versatile, futuristic-chic mix of resin and crocodile, hard and soft, color-blocked in contrasting hues. In New York, her black and white dress was beautifully complimented with a strong kick of color via the “Night Tube Plume” in fuchsia with scattered beading and crystal buckle.

I am having major bag envy right now, and while we’re at it, add leg envy! She looks amazing, and I’m so glad to see her in the spotlight again.

My Tod’s Special Edition Bags

Not all brands can be everything to everyone (no one is perfect, after all) but there are a special few who rarely fail me– one of them being Tod’s. Every season, I buy a Tod’s bag or two and use them to death (I am hard on my things but Tod’s bags take the beating beautifully). This year, I’m yearning for the sunny yellow limited edition D-Styling Bauletto bag ($1,665) issued for the re-opening of Tod’s South Coast Plaza boutique (only 35 made!). Each of these limited bags is embossed with “My Tod’s Special Edition” in the interior. It is exclusive to the South Coast Plaza boutique so you must call them to order (before they sell out!) 714-556-0239.

Not a fan of yellow like I am? Make like SJP and grab yourself the large Tod’s tote in white leather. Don’t worry about getting it dirty– if SJP can tote hers in the rain, to the park, WITH an eight year old boy, why should you worry about a little stain? I own a Tod’s Rodeo bag from 2002 in white leather and it is still in pristine condition (and you thought I was kidding about being a Tod’s fanatic– I remember every single Tod’s bag purchase and the year it was made). The sumptuous skins used by Tod’s is sturdy and cleans easily, even in white.

The Large Tote in White Leather retails for $1,400 at Saks Fifth Avenueicon

Tell me, which one do you prefer?

Milla Jovovich in Sergio Rossi

Cannes Film Festival is like the 12 days of Christmas for the fashion industry. Each day, a parade of primped and coiffed celebs glide down the runway (I mean red carpet) offering plenty of fodder for gawkers and fashion bloggers alike.

I only comment on the stand outs and today, Milla Jovovich caught my eye in an unexpected color-blocked gown from Prada. Even more intriguing, however, was the minaudiere dangling from her shoulder from Sergio Rossi. I love the long shoulder/crossbody chain trend on the red carpet– it allows one a nonchalant and elegant pose, unlike posing with a clutch (there is the football hold, the clutch it like a baby stance or dangle gingerly from your fingers– I have tried all three and trust me, equally awkward). This stunner is from Sergio Rossi‘s “Red Carpet Limited Edition Minaudiere” in Red Satin trimmed with Swarovski Crystal Butterfly Trim. Add flawless hair, bold red lips and we have a 10+ red carpet look in my book.

What do you think of the look?

Marni Textured Bucket Bag: January’s Not-So-Basic Basic Bag

Versace girl January Jones is known for her sleek, simple style (and now a talked-about pregnancy!). But anyone trailing her could recognize the fine-featured blonde by her Marni bucket bag. Whether she’s dashing off to a sports event or lunching with the girls, January always has her leather bag in tow! I can see why: black totes tend to border on boring, but this embellished bucket has playful details to keep your eyes interested. All those oversized studs, so big they are pure pop art, give it depth and flavor. I’m all for girls having a trademark satchel, but maybe January would like to mix it up with Marni’s mouse-gray version shoulder version sometime? Carry on! Marni Textured Bucket Bag, at Hamrah’s for $1,715.

Sarah Jessica Parker at the Ballet Spring Gala in VBH Sueded Python Bag

Ever the trend setter, SJP attended last night’s Ballet Spring Gala 2011 with her favorite VBH sueded python origami bag effortlessly slung over her gown. I love this look! It completely changed the overtone of her outfit and made it playful and youthful. The bag is available at VBH Boutique for $1,750– 940 Madison Avenue New York 212.717.9800 Or Pre-Order at Neiman Marcus here.

How do you feel about using cross body bags at formal events?

Roger Vivier at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala: Roger Vivier’s Savage Beauties

Dark beauty Penélope Cruz was my Bag Snob of the evening. The dramatic feathered “Foxtrot” clutch was the perfect complement to her Oscar de la Renta gown, a silk organza, chiffon, and tulle tiered concoction of elegance that welcomed a wildly high-personality clutch. Voluminous feathers brought pageantry to a classically glamorous look.

Other savage beauties included: A monochromatic Michelle Monaghan, slinky and sensual in a fluid bubble gum dress by Derek Lam, with the “Coup de Pinceau Night” tube – the satin clutch gave her dress the angularity it demanded.

Amy Adams looked all grown up in her L’Wren Scott column gown, but far more eye-catching was the “Plumette Tube” clutch she held in her hands, not as explosively feathery as Cruz’s but equally lush.

Lastly, Livia Firth (wife to Colin) gave Roger Vivier double-time with the “Pilgrim Mini” clutch and forest-green open-Toe “Epine” pumps, bringing dynamism to her organic silk Stella McCartney gown.

Beyoncé

This black minidress somehow manages to make ruffles look edgy — quite a feat! Though you might want to make sure your prom dress is a wee bit longer than B’s — so you can sit down when you get you tired of dancing. Also try pairing a black dress with bright pumps to make your entire look more fun!

Lauren Conrad

Show off toned arms and legs in a short, sleeveless dress like LC’s. All-over sparkle in a dark color, like her hunter green, makes for a totally glam but still super-fun look!

Ashley channels her fashionista HSM character, Sharpay, in this silver, scalloped-edge dress. 17 Prom Tip: Pair metallics with nude or skin-tone shoes to make your legs look longer!

America Ferrera

America’s strapless style flatters her gorgeous shoulders and skinny waist!

Brittany Snow

You can never go wrong with a classic satin dress. Brittany pairs her pale gray one with a silver bag and heels for a “young Hollywood starlet” look. 17 Prom Tip: If you’re fair-skinned, pale colors may wash you out in pictures. Try a spray-on tanner to give yourself a little glow before the big day (just be careful not to go overboard)!

Leona Lewis

Leona’s got that X Factor in this cotton-candy-colored dress, which is adorable and just right for prom!

Sophia Bush

Florals are always pretty for prom, but it’s Sophia’s studded belt that makes this dress sweet and edgy instead of basic.

Chunky Necklace – Statement Jewellery Trend 2011

Chunky Necklace

Chunky necklace is a standout accessory every woman needs to have in her jewellery cascet. An opulent jewellery promises to add a dash of sparkle to winter’s party wardrobe.

’s chunky necklace

’s chunky necklace

’s chunky necklace

A statement jewellery is an eveningwear essential at this time of the year because at the moment there are many occassions to party (Holiday Parties, New Year’s Eve Party, Carnival). Believe it or not, a lot of women will choose a safe LBD or just a modest frock for a night out. If you’re rich enough to have a new dress for every occassion, then won’t need a statement jewellery to change your dress style to out of the ordinary. In this case, you will want a chunky necklace to help you follow the latest trends.

The point is to be extinguishable from the crowd of similar-looking ladies. So why not adorning yourself with a dazzling chunky necklace? We all know that accessories make the outfit. Today your simple dress can look glamorous and ladylike, tomorrow a little bit more edgy. It depends on your jewellery style. Look to (necklace by ), ’s ( agate stone necklace) or ( bronze necklace).

In a winter 2011 everthing’s permitted so how about going for a more daring look by layering with sequins and lace? Just give it a try and you won’t spend your party unnoticed. Remember, however, to keep the background simple, (including your hair and dress) so that the incredible artpiece necklace remains the main focus.
